Can't believe I never noticed this guy and his music before. Thanks so much for introducing him to me!

Thank you for another informative overview of a musician I also really enjoy. A shout for his solo recording 'Shades Of Love', also on Steeplechase. One of best recordings of vibes out there

Thank you for this! Really nice overview, and I realize I have a lot of Dickerson to explore....I'm only familiar with him from the Ra side. I'm glad you mentioned the Haverford show, that's a real gem.

Thanks for the write up on Dickerson. He deserves more attention. It's interesting that he described his sound as "plush" as what I've always noted about it was the clean attack which set him apart from every other vibes player.

He also recorded two little known but worthy albums in the mid '70s for the Japanese label Whynot, who around that same time released the first two records by Henry Threadgill's Air. The first, Tell Us Only Beautiful Things with Dickerson, Wilbur Ware and Andrew Cyrille was issued at the time. The second was released in 2000 under the title, 1976, and features Dickerson, Ware, Jamaladeen Tacuma and Edgar Bateman, Jr.
