Another FANTASTIC post. I enjoy reading everything about the artists that coalesced into the AACM. I've purchased many albums from ESP Disk, but never checked out the Sea Ensemble. Thanks for recommending it. Wishing you a very Happy New Years!
Fabulous post. I'd never heard anything by Kali Fasteau before. Very heady stuff. Listening to The Memoirs Of A Dream recording as I write and it's blowing my mind. Looking forward to exploring the Sea Ensemble releases in the days to come. Seems like the perfect way to open the new year. Cheers.
Note: I need to amend some info: The venue was The Sutherland Lounge, not Sunderland Club. The Sutherland was a hotel/lounge at 4659 S. Drexel. Was THE place back in the day, Miles, Coltrane all the greats played there. It was a resident hotel for low-income and where Malachi Thompson started S.C.A.I., Sutherland Community Arts Initiative.
A great post! And it's been so long since I listened to Kulu Se Mama! If I got nothing else out of this, I get to listen to that wonderful Coltrane album again. And yeah, I got a lot else out of it.

Thanks for walking with us throughout the year Karloff. Next week, Muhal takes us into the new year...

Thanks for walking with us. As I commented before, it's nice to start the New Year and every new day walking out in the morning dew.
