Been to Memphis too. Drove solo from Asheville to meet my man on tour. They all got sick in Texas but preserved. The gig was at Hi Tone. Your trip sounds amazing and life changing too.
Cool venue. I stuck to Beale Street, but next time I'll venture out to places like Hi Tone. So much good music in Memphis, which I think is an underrated city. Keep an eye on Memphis... That could be the name of a song.
I am so glad you ended your journey safely! That river is something else on that stretch. The Blues Museum is an amazing place. That was where we ended our land journey too. I have so enjoyed following along.
They were all-time. All because Porter just happened to be at the landing and saw me getting out of my canoe. I met so many kind and generous people like him on the river. I'll never forget Keith, Cassandra, Robert, and Porter...

Great post! Looking forward to learning more.
See you soon, Dan.
Thanks for another great post, Tyler!
One question - which Sonny Boy Williamson was that?
That would be Sonny Boy Williamson II.
Love it that you got some tamales!
