I love this image:
Antoine-Joseph Sax was born on 6 November 1814, in Dinant, Belgium, a small town in the province of Namur. This statue is located in front of Mr Sax's House, a little museum on the main street in Dinant:
The house is dedicated to Antoine-Joseph Sax, better known as Adolphe Sax. He was a builder of musical instruments and is foremost remembered for his invention of the saxophone. Just down the street from Mr. Sax’s House on the cobblestone you can find this:
Like the handprints of the stars in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in LA, the footprints of the great sax players adorn the streets of Dinant leading to Mr Sax’s House.
Ultimately, a journey into the wide world of jazz music starts with that first step. The purpose of this newsletter is to use my journey as a guide to those just starting on their journey or for those who want to restart their journey. Through sharing my own experiences, you can discover a new world of jazz. I’ll do the work for you and point you in a direction, and then it’ll be up to you to take that first step….
We’ll touch many bases, from Fred Astaire to Sun RA and from 78s to LPS.
The next edition will start with my journey.
For me, oddly enough, it all started here….
Thanks for checking in, brother.
Very Cool TK!
