In 1991, I performed with Lindsay Cooper’s group Oh Moscow at festivals in Moscow and Volgograd. Soon after, Moscow TV invited me for a portrait in 1992. But as the Soviet Union collapsed on December 31, 1991, my trip turned chaotic. During my two weeks in Moscow, I took a train to St. Petersburg for another festival, where I met Vladimir and others. From that encounter, QuasarQuartet emerged as part of the new Eastern openness with members from there.
Tyler - this was a fascinating one... I had no idea of these folks' from USSR/Russia and their music. Thanks as always for expanding my mind. On a side note, how did I not reconnect with you when I came back to Monterey in '89 and you were just up the road?!?
Yes sir! Came back to Monterey after Germany for another (brief) tour before I left the US Army. Just could not stay way... Many great memories there. :)
Thanks again. When the wall had come down Vladimir and me we met in St.Peterburg and formed the QuasarQuartet with Simon Nabatov and Vitold Rek.
Wow. What an adventure that must have been.

Good call, Brother. I was off the radar....
Were you at Fort Ord?
